Install Yalla

The easy way

On your phone, open rihan.io and tap Get Yalla. It knows if you have an iPhone or Android and shows one step at a time.

iPhone: what's TestFlight?

While we test, iPhone apps come through TestFlight, Apple's free app for trying new apps. Install TestFlight first, then Yalla. Your invite comes by email from Apple. Check junk mail if you don't see it.

Android: Google Play says it isn't available

Make sure Google Play is using the same Gmail you gave us. Tap your picture at the top right of Google Play to switch accounts.

I tapped a button and nothing happened

Open the link in Safari (iPhone) or Chrome (Android), not inside a messaging app. Press and hold the link, then choose Open in Safari or Chrome.

I can't find Yalla after installing

Swipe down on your home screen and type Yalla.

Join my family

Someone sent me an invite link

Tap the link on your phone. If you don't have Yalla yet, it helps you install it first, then opens Yalla to join. A family organizer approves you and you get a notification.

I have a code instead

Open Yalla, sign in, and type the 8-letter code. Then tap Ask to join.

I'm already in another family

You can be in one family at a time. In Yalla, tap your picture, then your family's name, then Leave. Then open your invite link again.

How do I invite my family?

In Yalla, tap the person-plus button at the top and send the link by text. You approve each person before they can see anyone.

Keep it working

My family sees an old location
  1. Open Yalla. If there's a banner at the top, tap it and follow the steps.
  2. Location should be Always and Precise on.
  3. Android: set Yalla's battery to Unrestricted.

Yalla always shows when a location was last updated, so you never see a guess.

I'm not getting arrival alerts

Allow notifications for Yalla in your phone's Settings, and make sure the place is saved in Yalla's Places tab. Focus or Do Not Disturb can hide them.

How do I update Yalla?

Most updates arrive on their own. For bigger ones, Yalla shows a banner. Tip: turn on automatic updates once and forget it.

  1. iPhone: open TestFlight, tap Yalla, turn on Automatic Updates.
  2. Android: open Google Play, find Yalla, tap ⋮ and turn on Enable auto update.
Does Yalla drain my battery?

Yalla uses less power when you're not moving and full accuracy when you are. If you notice heavy battery use, tell us at [email protected].

My account

Who can see my location?

Only the people in your family in Yalla. Never advertisers. We never sell it. Privacy policy

How do I pause sharing?

In Yalla, tap your picture, then Location sharing, and turn it off. Your family sees you as paused until you turn it back on.

How do I delete my account?

In Yalla, tap your picture, then Profile, then Delete account. More about deleting
