The short version

What we collect

Who can see it

Only members of your Yalla family. When you pause sharing, they see you as paused and can't see where you are, and nothing is recorded while you're paused. Nobody joins a family without a family admin's approval. When you ask to join, that family's admins see your name and email so they can decide. Someone who joins can see your past locations only from the day they joined. Everyone in the family gets a notification when someone joins, and a family admin can remove anyone.

Avatar photos are visible only to your family. Your diagnostics report and any feedback you send are visible only to you and to us.

We use these service providers to run Yalla: Supabase (database and storage, United States), OpenFreeMap / OpenStreetMap (map images; they see the map area being viewed, not who you are), and Apple and Google (sign-in and delivering notifications). They process data only to provide their service to us. If you tap Directions, your family member's location is opened in Google Maps.

How long we keep it

When you delete your account, your profile, photo, location, history, moments, points, diagnostics, feedback and device tokens are permanently deleted.

Your choices

Children

For now, Yalla is for people 13 and older. Everyone confirms this when they start, and we keep only the time they confirmed it, never an age or birthday. If someone says they're under 13, we delete the new account right away. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 is using Yalla, contact us and we'll delete their data.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access rules inside our database make sure only your family can read your location. This is enforced on the server, not just in the app.
